2008 年东师现代统计讲习班

第一轮通知

    为了促进我国应用统计学科的发展、提高研究生的创新能力、拓展研究生的国际视野、实现研究生优质教学资源的有效共享，根据教育部教研司[2007]16 号文件“关于批准 2008 年研究生教育创新计划项目的通知”，由教育部和国家自然科学基金委员会共同主办、东北师范大学承办的2008年东师现代统计讲习班，将于2008年6月17日至6月21日在东北师范大学举办。

    2008年东师现代统计讲习班由东北师范大学研究生院、数学与统计学院统计系承办，组织安排工作由东北师范大学数学与统计学院统计系负责。讲习班面向全国有关学校及研究机构招生，现特此发布通知，并将相关的安排及注意事项公告如下：

一、 主    题         生存分析与函数型数据分析

二、 举办时间        2008年6月17日—6月21日

三、 举办地点         长春 东北师范大学

四、 举办目的

充分利用国际应用统计界的优秀产、学、研相结合的教育资源，帮助学员们了解和掌握应用统计的基本理论和前沿研究成果，促进学员与中外专家、专家与专家以及学员与学员间的交流；推动不同培养单位之间的学术沟通，促进研究生教育的交流与合作；推动我国应用统计及相关学科的科学研究。

五、 招生

1．招生人数：正式学员 100 人左右。

2．招生对象：国内各大院校和研究院所中相关专业的在校硕士、博士研究生和青年教师均可申请，同时可接收少量对应用统计领域有浓厚兴趣的优秀高年级本科生作为旁听生。

3．申请方式：报名参加讲习班者只需提交网上申请及自己导师或者其他专家（副教授以上）的书面推荐信各一份。由组委会组织力量根据提交的书面申请书和推荐信确定录取名单。申请书、推荐信请从讲习班网站（http://math.nenu.edu.cn/tjjxb）下载。申请截止日期为 2008 年6月10日。

4．录取：录取原则主要考虑：(1)申请和推荐符合要求，今后的工作与应用统计领域密切相关；(2)目前的科研背景、教育背景；(3)英语水平（课程将请国外教授用英语授课）。录取通知将在 2008 年 6 月13日在网站上公布，同时Email通知学员本人及所在单位。部分因为名额限制不能录取的优秀学生可以作为旁听生参加。

六、讲习班课程主要内容

课程1：Modern Survival analysis  

时间：  June 17 (6 hrs) , 18 (5 hrs)  and 19 (2.5 hrs)

主讲人：Dr. Zhezhen Jin, Columbia University

课程简介：This course will introduce the nonparametric and semiparametric methods for the analysis of survival data. The topics will include censoring mechanisms, Kaplan-Meier estimator of survival function, logrank test for comparison of survival curves, and various regression models including Cox proportional hazards models, accelerated failure time models, and linear transformation models. Advanced topics include sequential analysis of survival data and analysis of correlated multiple survival data.

主讲人简介：

Dr. Zhezhen Jin (PhD 1998) is a tenured Associate Professor at Department of Biostatistics, Columbia University. He is a well-known expert on nonparametric and semiparametric methods on survival data, and a recipient of the CAREER award of 2001, the most prestigious award to junior faculty in science and engineering given by the US National Science Foundation. Dr. Jin has published over 35 articles in statistics, biostatistics, and biomedical journals, including Biometrika, Journal of the American Statistical Association, and Life Data Analysis.

课程2:  Functional Data Analysis and Related Topics

时间：  June 19 (3 hrs), June 20 (6 hrs), June 21 (5 hrs)

主讲人：Dr. Naisyin Wang, Texas A&M University

        Dr. Jianhui Zhou, University of Virginia

课程简介：This is an introductory course on smoothing, functional data, and regularization in statistics.

Outline：

1. Smoothing: spline and basis functions  

Least squares principle and asymptotic properties; B-spline methods and asymptotic properties; links between functional data and smoothing.

2.  Smoothing: kernel and penalized splines

From ridge regression to penalization/regulation; basic theory; connection to mixed effects models; from partial linear model with random effects to functional data modeling. 

3. Introduction to

a. functional principle component.

b. canonical correlation and discriminant analysis .

c. functional linear models.

d. functional response regression .

4. Advanced material:  regularization approaches on various topics, and examples revisited.

主讲人简介：

Dr. Naisyin Wang (PhD 1992) is a Professor of Statistics and Toxicology at the Texas A&M University. She is an internationally renowned statistician with expertise in longitudinal data analysis, nonparametric modeling, and a wide range of applied statistical methods. She is Fellow of the Institute of Mathematical Statistics, and Fellow of the American Statistical Association. She is Co-Editor of Biometrics, the flagship journal in biostatistics, and has published significant work in the leading journals of statistics.

Dr. Jianhui Zhou (PhD 2005) is an Assistant Professor of Statistics at University of Virginia. He publishes in Annals of Statistics and Journal of Multivariate Analysis, and his expertise includes dimension reduction, robust statistics, and functional data.

学术活动：

    讲习班将组织多种课外学术交流和娱乐活动，活跃学习气氛，提供图书阅览、网络检索和自习条件。

七、费用

正式学员享受的待遇：

(1) 免交住宿费和学杂费；外地正式学员由东北师范大学提供住宿，长春市学员自行解决住宿。

(2) 学员将享受一定的伙食补贴。

(3) 免费提供教材、讲义、资料，免费使用东北师范大学数学与统计学院资料室。

(4) 所有学员经考试合格后发给结业证书、学分证明，并评选出约 1/5 的优秀学员予以奖励。旁听学员除自行解决交通和住宿外，其它与正式学员相同。
